Across the river from Alfred Works and the iconic Custard Factory, Alfresco at Alfred Works is our new open-air social space and sports bar – a laid-back area for relaxing with friends and family and hanging out when the weekend comes (and Thursday is the new Friday, right?).
Next to the outdoor space (which, of course, has a covered area, as the sun does not always shine) is a sports bar where you can watch all the very best in televised sport whilst enjoying a drink or food from one of our Food Partners. With a container kitchen serving fried chicken and three live-fire kitchens for you to enjoy, it’s your choice which part of the globe to enjoy. Curious about who’s serving in Alfresco? Alfresco at Alfred Works brings the best of Alfred Works outside: great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. You’ll find rotating pop‑ups, guest DJs, seasonal serves and one‑off collaborations taking over the space. Whether you’re here for a sunny afternoon spritz or settling in for an evening event, Alfresco is where the good weather meets good times.

Our Week Starts on Thursday
From Thursday to Sunday, the whole place comes alive with outdoor kitchens serving up fresh food, great energy, and all of your favourite dishes.
And keep your eyes peeled…you might just stumble into a special event while you’re here.

For the Sports fanatics
We have you covered whatever the weather – which is good because this is Birmingham.
Inside our sports bar we have screens galore showing all your favourites – football, cricket, tennis, rugby. If it’s on TV, it’ll be on. Of course, if it’s fine weather, we have more TVs in our outdoor space so you can pop out for some air and still not miss a shot.
From Thurs to Sunday we will be open showing sport but we will also open on Mon – Weds for key sporting events or private bookings. Follow us on socials @alfred_works to keep in the loop or book a space here.

From Monday to Wednesday, we will only open for special events, large sporting events or for private hire.

Our space is totally flexible – a large indoor Sports Bar, a large outdoor area, a smaller outdoor area and even a small cinema.

Getting here
Walking? Simple stroll straight for 10 mins down from the iconic Bullring. Cycling? Sorted. You’ll find bike rails nearby.
Prefer public transport? We’ve got you covered. There’s a bus stop just a 5-minute walk away, and there are two train stations nearby. Just a 9-minute walk to Moor Street Station, and a 13-minute walk to Birmingham New Street Station.
Travelling by car? While we don’t have on-site parking, there are a few car parks close by.
We are located on Floodgate St just near the railway arches. We can also be accessed via Alfred Works on Gibb St using the small bridge entrance over the River.
